Family Fitness and Fun Day

Today was the 3rd Annual Katy Stake Family Fitness and Fun Day.  It included a 1 mile family walk and a 5K run and we all had a blast!  Here’s a picture before the event.

I pushed the stroller with Christian and Brian and I walked the 1 mile.  While we were almost the last ones to finish, we had a good time walking a mile together.

Paul and Aaron ran the 5K.  They trained for a few weeks, running around the block after work/school and enjoyed their time together.  Aaron named their team supercalifragilisticexpiali-runners-minus.  Or something like that!

Here they are running together

and now they cross the finish line with a time of 45:11.

While they ran, B and C and I enjoyed some of the other Fun Day activities.  Here’s a picture of Brian doing a potato sack race.

Christian was so happy to get to play in a bounce house!

It was a great event and I’m glad our family was able to take part in it.  Hopefully next year when I’m not pregnant I’ll get to run too!

Haircuts

When Aaron was a baby I received advice about how much money I would save if I learned to cut my boys hair.  I was told to practice while they were young and that by the time the kids cared what their hair looked like, I would be good enough at it.  So Paul bought me a set of electric clippers.

Paul has gotten pretty good at cutting the kids hair so I mostly just let him do it and I vacuum it up and help hold them still.

We don’t cut their hair nearly often enough, and it typically gets really shaggy before we cut it again (something for us to work on).

We finally got around to cutting their hair yesterday and I can’t believe how different they look with their haircuts!  This was Christian’s first real haircut and he now looks so much more grown up.

Anyway, without further ado, here are the before and after pictures!

Today was the ultrasound!

While many people have been anxious to find out if we’re having a boy or a girl, no one could possibly have been more anxious than Paul and I.  Today we went to the hospital at 8am, filled out our paperwork, then finally got to see our little one.  Here’s some pictures!

That shows his face

And here he is in profile

And here’s the proof that he’s a boy.

While I’m outnumbered greatly, I’m so happy!  He looks absolutely perfect and healthy!  I’m 20 weeks along, so we’re still looking at a due date of August 25th.  Wish me luck through a hot Houston summer!

Fun Christmas presents

Our family is attractive!  And no, I’m not talking about our good looks.  We love magnets!  For Christmas, our boys got Tegu blocks and Paul got bucky balls.  All magnetic and tons of fun!

We have had HOURS of fun playing with both of these toys.  Here’s just a sampling of some of our latest creations that we’ve captured on camera.

They really are great toys and we are glad to have them…and will probably buy more of them in the future!

Christmas Season 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas this past year.

 IMG_9498

We decorated our tree and our home and had several advent calendars for the boys to do each day.

Brian’s preschool put on a Christmas program and party and Paul and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing his little voice singing the Christmas songs they had practiced.

After the program there was a party in his class with games, frosting cookies, and a book exchange.

Look at the frosting and sprinkles he had put on!

Christmas eve we spent at my moms house with my sister, her husband and son.  Grandma played several hymns, despite the attention she was given by the grandchildren!

Christmas morning at our own house was a lot of fun with the boys in their new pajamas looking at what Santa had brought them.  Aaron received a microscope, Brian a bicycle, and Christian a little piano.

As Paul opened his stocking he found out the surprise I had found an hour before, that we were expecting another child!  We were both very excited!

Here’s just a few more from Christmas morning, Christian chilling with his loot,

and the boys looking through the microscope.  Notice Brian wearing his new helmet!

We were very blessed this Christmas season!

Christian’s Birthday

IMG_9182

I still can’t believe Christian turned 1 this past November.  He got lots of presents and enjoyed tearing the paper off, but mostly he enjoyed his birthday cake.  We took LOTS of pictures and made this video which we posted on fb, but here it is for the blog too.  Enjoy!

Paul’s Birthday

IMG_8196

For Paul’s 35th birthday we celebrated at home with cupcakes, then left the next morning to drive to San Antonio for a long weekend.

We started on Friday by going to Sea World and even bought a year long season pass!  We had such a good time!

IMG_8200

There were some great shows

IMG_8218IMG_9020IMG_8367IMG_8707

and some fun rides

IMG_8526

and we were very glad we went.  We plan on going again this summer a few more times.

We had dinner that night with the Wildens and they came to Sea World with us again on Monday before we came home.

IMG_9068

On Saturday we went to see the Alamo, but it was packed with some re-enactment or something going on.

IMG_8731IMG_8756

Then we drove to see several friends.  We hung out with the Martins one afternoon in New Braunfels,

IMG_8811

then went on to visit the Grannis family in Kyle.  IMG_8945

We hung out with them Saturday evening and all day Sunday before we went back to San Antonio.  Monday morning we walked around the temple grounds then went back to Sea World.

We had a great trip and are glad we got to see so many friends in such a short period of time.

Ready for a trip back in time?

I’m ready.  I’m going to blog.  I’m going to start back in last October (yep, OCTOBER!!) and get caught up.  Some of these will probably be out of order, but eventually I’ll get back to present time.  Wish me luck and be patient!
